Updates for my books and WIPs

Hello, my wonderful book besties! Welcome to my first update!

With Restored’s release on the horizon, I’ve been organising my schedule and I’m excited to share my next plans with you!

Publishing plans:

Restored is ready for launch (16.10.26 - pre order live now) and I have recently published my first hardback book (Hunter’s Game – available now on Amazon). Between November and January 2027, I will be releasing hardback copies of the full Obsidian Souls trilogy. I’m debating whether to merge all three books together and release a full Obsidian Souls series book as three separate parts in one book, which means a brand new cover as well! I like the idea, but the size this book would be intimidates me! I haven’t decided on this for sure yet.

Writing plans:

I have spent the past two months gathering all my notes for Hunter’s Game 2, reorganising the plot, and brutally scrapping and adding to the story. I had nearly 70k words written last year when I hit a wall and began to hate where the story was going, hence the huge delay (and how the Obsidian Souls was born). But during 2026, I gradually returned to the plot and took my time fixing the problem and finding the excitement for it again. I had to let it happen naturally – the writer’s block I had for this story was relentless.

I am now satisfied with the story and super excited to share that Hunter’s Game 2 is my next project! I am finally ready to get back to this manuscript and finish Hunter and Piper’s story!

After 16 months of dedicating my life solely to the Obsidian Souls series, and the past 12 of those months spent editing, content creating, promoting, marketing the trilogy, I am SO ready to get back to writing again. I’ve missed it so much.

Hunter’s Game 2 (unofficial title) will be published in 2027. I’ve also spent the past few months revising Hunter’s Game’s manuscript, and will be republishing a second edition ahead of HG2’s launch. So if you’re planning a reread before HG2, I’d recommend waiting until the 2nd edition is released. It has a lot of changes, improvements, and some additions that will be relevant for HG2.

I will be building an ARC team for it to release it as a brand new book, so keep an eye on here and my Instagram (@elhickswrites) for details on that. I haven’t curated a timeline, but if the ARC doesn’t happen this year, it’ll be early 2027.

I’ll be sharing news on more upcoming projects very soon, I have so much in store and wish I could blurt it all out here and now, but if I’ve learned anything on marketing so far, it’s having patience (which I’m still finding), and focus on one or two things at a time (which I’m still learning to do).
